Endorsement from Trustee Geoff Deakin

March 20, 2018

Thank you Trustee Geoff Deakin for your endorsement!

"I support Jennifer Carroll for Mayor: She is intelligent, caring, engaged and focused on solutions for Erie’s residents. Jennifer’s devotion to Erie shows best in how she stands out in this election.

Jennifer communicates with our residents. She clearly and concisely explains the issues that appear on meeting agendas, providing both background and impact of the decisions she makes. Jennifer meets with residents regularly to get the pulse of the town, and she relays that feedback as concrete examples to make substantive changes in Town Hall.

Jennifer forms her own opinions. She is prepared to discuss and debate issues before the Board, having done the research to know the history of prior decisions, the context for the recommendations of town staff, and the feelings of our residents. Jennifer isn’t afraid to negotiate and compromise if it gets all of Erie closer to the outcome that residents want.

Jennifer supports resident involvement in government. She supports and advocates for the citizen advisory boards she advises. She advocates for the residents who have shown repeatedly that they care about topics like sustainability and reduced waste and less about partisan agendas.

Jennifer advocates for Erie residents. Rather than just saying “it’s someone else's issue”, she takes the time and makes the trips to the State Capitol to address lawmakers directly about the issues that matter to Erie.

We do not always agree, but where we disagree, I know with confidence that Jennifer is taking a position because she genuinely feels it is in the best interest of Erie residents. She has a record of showing up to serve Erie each and every day and putting the residents of Erie first.

Erie residents, this is a highly consequential election. Please join me in voting for Jennifer Carroll as Erie's next mayor."

- Geoff Deakin (Trustee, 2016 - present)
